September 25th @ 10:30 - September 25th @ 14:30
A national series of events between 24–27th September to help drive climate and nature action planning in all education settings during 2024/25. Our education system and the nurseries, schools, and colleges within it play a critical role in driving action to address climate change and nature decline. As part of the Department for Education sustainability and climate change strategy, all education settings are expected to have a climate action plan and a sustainability lead in place by the end of 2025. During the new academic year, a number of organisations will be working together to offer a wide range of free support to nursery, school and college leaders to enable them to act on climate and nature.
Education leads from across the region can benefit from this support and start the development of their climate and nature action plan by attending the free regional event as part of the Climate and Nature Action in Education on Wednesday 25th September (10:30am-2:30pm) at the Great North Museum: Hancock. At each event, attendees will be able to hear about support from:
The National Education Nature Park
The Sustainability Support for Education service
The Climate Ambassador Programme
Let’s Go Zero Climate Action Advisors
Events are co-sponsored by the Association of School and College Leaders, the UK Schools Sustainability Network and the Early Years Alliance. During each event, attendees will have the opportunity to receive guidance from experts in the field of Decarbonisation, Risk & Adaptation, Climate Education & Green Careers and Biodiversity to help build their climate and nature action plan. Attendees will also get the chance to work with other education and sustainability leaders on developing partnerships across the region.
