Apprenticeships are Just for Manual Labour or Low-Skilled Jobs
One of the most persistent myths surrounding apprenticeships is the belief that they are only suitable for those looking for manual work or low-skilled jobs. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. Apprenticeships span a wide range of industries and professions, including technology, finance, healthcare, engineering, and more. From cybersecurity specialists to digital marketing professionals, apprenticeships offer so many diverse opportunities, there really is something for everybody.
Apprenticeships Are Inferior to Traditional Education
Another misconception is that apprenticeships are inferior to traditional academic routes (e.g. university). However, many employers prefer an apprenticeship qualification, and here’s why; apprenticeships provide a unique blend of hands-on experience and classroom learning, offering practical skills that are highly valued by employers before they are even qualified.
According to recent 85% of apprentices stay in employment after their programme ends, which just shows the effectiveness and importance of apprenticeship training and 75% of employers report that hiring apprentices has improved the quality of their product or service.
Apprenticeships Are Only for People Who Have Just Left School
Contrary to popular belief, apprenticeships are not exclusive to school leavers! While apprenticeships serve as an excellent transition from education to workforce, they are also accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.
