Willmott Dixon will be sponsoring the Engineering Zone of the exhibition, this interactive and hands-on event involving over 40 leading STEM companies provides an excellent opportunity for 9 to 13-year-olds to explore and engage with various aspects of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
Organised by the North East STEM Hub, which is delivered by RTC North, STEMFest Tees Valley is in collaboration with Darlington Borough Council and will take place over two days, on the 6th and 7th of March, at Darlington’s Mowden Park.
Willmott Dixon, the construction company, delivers a huge variety of projects and services that have a positive impact on people’s lives. Sustainability and social value are at the heart of their business, with the aim of being net zero by 2030 and a strategy that is split into three themes: Brilliant Buildings, Building Lives and Better Planet.
Brian Hall, Assistant social value manager at Willmott Dixon, comments: “We believe there is a career for everyone in construction so we are really excited to support such an amazing event and opportunity to engage and inspire so many bright young minds.
“STEM is at the very heart of our business and our purpose to deliver brilliant buildings, transform lives, strengthen communities and enhance the environment so our world is fit for future generations.”
The other themed zones, including the Science and Technology Zone, Teeside University Zone, and Your Future Zone, further enhances the diversity of learning experiences for the attendees. By exposing young students to real-world applications and experiences, these events contribute significantly to building interest and enthusiasm for these fields.
Claire Willis, Team Leader at the North East STEM Hub, comments:
“STEMFest plays a crucial role in inspiring young minds and fostering an interest in STEM subjects. These type of events are vital in nurturing the upcoming cohort of innovators, it's great to see Willmott Dixon supporting this initiative.
Without ongoing support from businesses including Willmott Dixon and our headline sponsor this year, Cummins, events like this simply couldn’t take place.”
