The Magnification Kit is designed to help Key stage 1 & 2 pupils explore objects, insects and plants close up, and to explore the principles of magnification.

KITS ARE RENTED ON A TERMLY BASIS AND CAN BE HIRED FOR UP TO 6 WEEKS. ONLY 2 KITS PER SCHOOL AT ANY TIME.

The Magnification Kit is designed to help Key stage 1 & 2 pupils explore objects, insects and plants close up, and to explore the principles of magnification.

The microscopes provided with the kit are recommended for primary school use by the Royal Microscopical Society. They have a magnification of x20. This is sufficient to allow children to see things that they would normally not be able to see but still retain some recognition of the original object.

The Magnification kit gives the student the opportunity to explore objects close up through fun activities including:

  • Looking at minibeasts
  • Looking at flowers and leaves
  • Looking at life in water
  • Looking at mosses and lichens
  • Other things to examine
  • How to make your own slides
