March 01st - March 29th
The Net Zero Superheroes competition is designed to encourage pupils to learn about Net Zero. This year’s competition will be aimed at Year 5 (England / Wales) / Primary 6 (Scotland / Northern Ireland) school students.
The aim of the competition is for students to come up with creative ideas to help their school or local community reach Net Zero, with a particular focus on:
Energy (how can you reduce the amount of energy your school or local community uses or make the energy you do use greener);
Transportation (how could you improve the way that you get to school or around your local community); and,
Infrastructure (how could you improve your school building).
AtkinsRéalis have teaching resources that help the pupils to learn and develop their competition entries. They can provide copies of their materials to you, or they can assign an AtkinsRéalis mentor to your school to run one or more lessons/workshops. AtkinsRéalis can support this either during the school day or as part of an after-school club.
The competition will run from 1st – 29th March 2024. There will be a strict submission deadline on Friday 29th March, however, the start date is flexible and can be moved earlier if that works better with your schedule. The top entries will be shortlisted and invited to present their ideas to a panel of judges on Wednesday 24th April. Winners shall be announced on Friday 26th April with prizes including a Net Zero school trip and £200 spot prizes to spend on Net Zero school resources!
